Central Victorian Community Deer Forum

Sharing insights about tackling the impacts of deer

Biolinks Alliance co-hosted a Central Victorian Community Deer Forum along with the Victorian Deer Control Community Network and Malmsbury District Landcare last month.

This  informative event (held at Malmsbury Town Hall) offered the chance to hear from local landholders, government representatives, professional deer shooters and harvesters, and residents from other areas who have been part of community approaches to dealing with feral deer.

While feral deer are a well-established issue in parts of the state, we have opportunities in Central Victoria get on top of this emerging issue before we see the terrible and wide-spread damage that deer can cause to crops, habitats and property.

The key outcome of the day was connecting like-minded locals together. It also offered the opportunity for these locals to connect with professional, ethical and sustainable professionals, and Local Government contacts.
