Greenhill To Black Hill Biolink down the track
A collaborative project protecting, restoring and reconnecting the woodland and river ecosystems between Greenhill to Black Hill.
Greenhill to Black Hill landholders near Kyneton, on Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung country, are helping Large Old Trees tell their stories long into the future with continued works to protect their local biolink.
This biolink project emerged after concerned landholders - who had over the years taken steps to improve and protect the environment were still witnessing decline - realised they needed a plan for the whole landscape, not just their own properties. With the support of Biolinks Alliance's ecological expertise - landholders developed a collective vision for the landscape and a detailed Local to Landscape plan, identifying the region's natural treasures and strategies to protect them.
Several years down the track the group remain resolute, holding working bees focused on the protection of Large Old Trees, with completed works at three properties and two more working bees to go at other properties.
"It has been very enjoyable doing this work and great to see the trees that are been protected up close. Look at these two magnificent trees we got close to yesterday (see above), just imagine the stories they could tell," shared Huntly Barton, a Greenhill to Black Hill landholder.
