Position overview
The Communications/Graphics Officer will lead and coordinate the development and implementation of communication strategies that shift attitudes, build support and empower individual positive environmental action to meet Alliance program goals to secure the biodiversity and natural environments in central Victoria for future generations.
Knowledge-sharing and relationship building is key to Biolinks Alliance’s strategy to enable large-scale landscape restoration. The Alliance is a provider of specialist knowledge, the Communications/Graphics Officer role would ensure that knowledge was delivered and shared in the most impactful ways as well as develop tailored supporter communications.
The role would establish strategy and frameworks for the development and delivery of communications assets across the whole organisation, thereby building a sustainable and flexible framework for an ongoing effective communications programs in the Alliance. The role would be an integral part of a small team, reporting to the Executive director.
Key responsibilities
Advise on and coordinate the development of an integrated communications strategy, meeting the needs of Biolinks 6 Strategic Programs, across all relevant platforms and channels.
Lead the development of communications tools, such as the website, our social media presence, and email direct marketing, and implementation of a digital communications plan across relevant channels (such as online event platforms, online fundraising platforms and face-to-face consults and events).
Working with other team members (Executive Director, Ecologists, Relationship Managers, Program Facilitators) to generate communications products from technical information generated through Local to Landscape Plans, Knowledge Symposia and Speaker Events. Manage its impact across digital platforms and face to face communication opportunities.

Ensure the Biolinks Alliance brand is represented consistently in order to grow brand recognition and reputation.
Develop relationships with media organisations (local and national) to assist in positioning Biolinks Alliance as a recognised and respected advocate on behalf of its member networks, regarding environmental management and ecological restoration policy and resourcing
Engage with and work alongside contractors (such as other Graphic Designers, Copywriters etc) to achieve great results within a defined budget.

Selection criteria

Required
Experience with SquareSpace for website updates (basic page layouts and updates to existing page layouts)
Experience with Mailchimp for email marketing
Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
Experience writing basic copy for online publications (website, social media, email marketing) and media releases
Experience managing social media presence via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn (creating content, scheduling content for publishing, running some basic paid advertising)
Experience designing professional presentations via Keynote (or similar)
Experience working within brand guidelines and ensuring all branded content published from any Biolinks Alliance team member aligns with the brand guidelines
Experience with online file sharing and archiving via Dropbox, Google Drive etc
Experience designing for both print and digital media
Desired
Experience producing short form basic film and audio productions
Experience with basic image retouching and editing
Experience publishing video content online via YouTube
Experience publishing audio content online via Anchor.fm
Experience creating online events with ticketing via Eventbrite (or similar)
Experience designing using online tools such as Figma, Canva etc

Location
The location for this position is negotiable, preferably central Victorian location, or in a home office in Melbourne with the ability to travel to central Victoria as required.
