Volunteering - Pollinator surveys

Dates: TBA - EoI open for specimen processing! Location: Trap deployment and collection will take place at Spring Plains Nature Conservation Reserve.

Processing will be at our Tooborac office.

Volunteers required: Up to 5

Pollinators play a key role in the function of the ecosystem and they are all too uncommon in this reserve. But what is there can be found using pollinator traps which attract them using colour vibrancy. We will be cataloging each type of pollinator we collect in the hope that we can detect changes across the site.

This survey involves deploying traps that lure insects with bright colours for collection which we then take to another site to process, catalogue and pin some specimens. This gives us a snapshot of the insect diversity and will allow us to track it over time.
