Reviving Habitat Webinar: Are Nest Boxes Effective for Marsupials in Box-Ironbark Forests?
Hear from our guest speaker Ross Goldingay from Southern Cross University about his research with Karen Thomas and Darren Quin over a 6-year period near Bendigo in this intriguing webinar.
Together, they monitored nest boxes installed through a 600-ha block of forest with natural tree hollows in short supply. Hear about how the trio recorded very high levels of nest boxes used by Brush-tailed Phascogales and Inland Sugar Gliders.
This study provides many important insights for habitat restoration more generally for hollow-dependent marsupials.

Ross researches wildlife ecology, chiefly arboreal mammals and secondly pollination ecology. For the past 20 years he has predominantly researched threatened wildlife species such as gliders, koalas, broad-headed snakes and frogs. He has also looked at habitat restoration utilising glide poles and nest boxes.
