Spring Plains - the story so far
Grab a cuppa and watch this short video (sub 2 minutes) about our recently completed 138-hectare Spring Plains Watershed Repair Pilot Project.
This pilot project offers a beacon of hope and demonstrates what can be achieved through simple but strategic ecological interventions.
Notably, less than 1% of Box-Ironbark forests remain undamaged, and these critical habitats urgently require intervention to withstand the challenges of climate change.
With the aim of restoring the hydrology of this degraded woodland near Heathcote, we are already witnessing positive changes - reduced flash flooding, improved wildlife habitat, and increased ecological productivity.
This pilot project paves the way for a new approach to building climate resilience and restoring biodiversity in goldfields landscapes at increased scale and speed. We hope to share and help adapt this approach for use in other landscapes across the region.
